IPO GMP, subscription and allotment — common questions

In depth: GMP & Kostak explained · How IPO allotment works · SME vs mainboard

What is IPO GMP?

IPO GMP (Grey Market Premium) is the unofficial premium at which an IPO's shares are quoted in the grey market before listing. It is not published or endorsed by SEBI, NSE or BSE and is not a price you can trade at. This page shows the median GMP across public trackers, with the range, for every open and upcoming IPO.

How do I check IPO allotment status?

Once an IPO closes, allotment is finalised on the basis-of-allotment date. Every closed IPO on this page has a Check allotment status button that opens the registrar's own status page (for example KFin Technologies, MUFG Intime or Bigshare) or, where the registrar is not listed, the BSE or NSE application status checker.

What do QIB, NII and Retail subscription mean?

Subscription shows how many times each investor category has bid for the shares reserved for it. QIB is Qualified Institutional Buyers (mutual funds, insurers, foreign institutions), NII is Non-Institutional Investors (bids above ₹2 lakh), and Retail is individual investors bidding up to ₹2 lakh. Figures here come from NSE where it publishes them.

What is an SME IPO?

An SME IPO is an issue by a small or medium enterprise listed on the NSE Emerge or BSE SME platform. SME issues have larger minimum application sizes, and their category-wise subscription split is often not published, in which case this page says so.

How are listing gains calculated?

Listing gain is the listing-day opening price compared with the issue price. The Listed tab also shows the latest NSE closing price and the gain since issue, for NSE listings from the last 90 days.
